My name is Paul Burragun (Uncle Boomerang) I am a local Aboriginal Cultural Facilitator Educator Artist Poet and Boomerang maker. I was born in Brisbane in 1965. I am of mixed cultural heritage including Aboriginal from my mother’s side with direct descendance and family links to many southeast Queensland and northeastern NSW peoples including Yugambeh; Birrinburra; Turrbal; Yugerra; Bundjalung and Githabul. My other heritage from both my mother’s and father’s sides come from Anglo Saxon heritage including English; Irish; Scottish and German. I am a bitsa, a mungrel dog. I acknowledge and are proud of all of my cultural heritages and blood lines. I know more about my Aboriginal cultural heritage and love sharing with students because I spent a lot of time with my grandfather, George Roberts-Burragun who was a Birrinburra man born on Yaegl land.
I believe that we should not let ourselves be ruled by or glued to tribalism of any sort. We are altogether the human tribe.
